COVID-19 has created a host of unique challenges to overcome, and it looks like it’s something that we will be working with for the next little while. When it comes to keeping your kiddos safe and happy in light of the coronavirus, it can be especially tough. Between the stress and anxiety that comes with wanting to keep them safe and the extreme limitations on certain activities, many parents are looking for fresh ideas to help their kids through this interesting time. Take a look at some of our favorite ways to stay distant during COVID while still having fun!

Make Your Days Intentional

At the beginning of the week, take some time and sit down to plan out some fun activities for the week. This isn’t to say that you need to plan out every minute of every day- that is a quick way to get very stressed! But if you brainstorm a fun activity for each day or every other day, it’s a bit easier to plan out the rest of your day around it, making it much less likely that everyone ends up binging movies all day.

You might consider looking for some fun craft ideas, or look for some game ideas that can be implemented in your house or backyard. Bake something together, or if you have older kids it could be fun to do a DIY project together!

Find New Ways to Connect with Loved Ones

Are your kids missing family and friends? See what your options are for connecting with them that still allows you to social distance. Scheduling a Zoom call with your regular playdate group is a great way to let them see some familiar faces- you might even consider playing a game together on your video chat! Are they missing their grandparents? Gather some art supplies and have them write letters and draw pictures to send. Everyone loves getting a letter in the mail, especially during such a difficult time.

Plan COVID Safe Outings

There are plenty of outing options that you can take advantage of and still practice safe social distancing. Pack up a picnic and pick a shady spot at a park to enjoy lunch together and play some outdoor games together. If you’re planning on taking your little to the grocery store with you to pick out picnic items, be sure to take your Binxy Baby shopping cart cover. You might also consider going on a hike together or walking a nearby trail to get some exercise and fresh air.

If you have a little one in tow, be sure to bring along your Ergobaby baby sling to keep them comfy and close as you embark on your adventures. Do your best to choose an area that doesn’t get a ton of traffic, and go during a time of day when there won’t be as many people out on the trail. When you do decide to go out, make sure you’re checking off all the boxes when it comes to safety: wear a mask, bring hand sanitizer along with you, and maintain a distance of 6 feet from others at all times.

Whatever you decide to do with your kiddos during COVID, doing your best to practice safe social distancing is sure to provide some peace of mind as you navigate these difficult waters. Take some time to intentionally plan out your days and make the most out of this unique time. We know how challenging it can be trying to stay upbeat and keep your kids happy- know that you are doing a great job! You’ve got this!
