SEATTLE SEAFAIR DETAILS

This year’s Seafair Weekend celebration takes place on August 2-4. There are a variety of ways to participate in this festival. You can choose to purchase tickets for the grandstand viewing area in Genesee Park. From these seats, you will have a spectacular view of the events, including the hydroplane racing and wakeboard competition on the water and the aerobatic planes in the sky. On land, guests will enjoy the classic car show, stunt bike performances, the ParentMap KidsZone, and a myriad of entertainment and food options. Each day, the event reaches a climatic end with the Blue Angels flying high over the sparkling waters of Lake Washington.

Grandstand ticket prices start at $30. Gates open daily at 9 a.m., and the Blue Angels take to the air each day around 3 p.m. You can also enjoy the festivities on the water and in the air at no cost from several vantage points around the lake in both Seattle and Bellevue. The best seats in the house are on a boat floating on Lake Washington. If you do not own a boat, you can charter a ride or book a trip on one of the many vessels that head out for the festivities.

WHERE TO STAY

There are plenty of lodging options for your Seafair experience. The festivities center around Lake Washington so you will want to choose hotels in Bellevue Seattle. The Hyatt Regency Bellevue on Seattle’s East Side puts you right in the middle of the action with its convenient downtown Bellevue location. This upscale hotel features spacious guest rooms and easy access to Lake Washington. Or choose the Fairmont Olympic Hotel in downtown Seattle. The elegant hotel boasts an indoor pool and spa, a luxurious afternoon tea, and more.

WHAT TO EAT

After a day out enjoying the sun and surf of Seattle, you will want to put your feet up with a nice meal. If your Seafair adventure had you in Seattle, you would be wise to consider one of the many restaurants around Lake Union. Agua Verde is a fun and casual taco joint located directly on the water. Sample traditional dishes such as fajitas or go for the more unique tacos such as the sautéed yam with roasted peppers.

If you took part in the festivities in Bellevue, the downtown Bellevue Collection area boasts a host of options for your dining and nightlife pleasure. Vivo 53 dishes up a bevy of Italian dishes, woodfired pizzas, and enormous desserts in a chic and cosmopolitan setting. Or head to Lot No. 3 for its eclectic cocktail menu.
