Use a Calendar Or a Planner

A calendar with large blocks for each day or a daily planner will be a big first step to organization. Write into each date everything that is scheduled, whether business or personal, so there will be no conflict with activities or appointments. Study the entries for the next day each evening and plan accordingly. This will help you have a better idea of what appointments and obligations you have coming up and you can better gauge the amount of time you have on a daily basis.

Create a To-do List

Whenever you know something has to be done or an appointment is scheduled, jot it down on a handy notepad and enter it on your calendar or planner later. Constantly revise the list to put the most important entries first.

Scheduling in Check Ups

There are a lot of obligations to remember that only come on a yearly basis, and those can be some of the hardest to keep in mind. And to be honest, they shouldn't be on your mind, there are a lot of companies that now offer programs and software that can calculate these dates for you and even load them into your electronic planner. There is always more info offered on the companies websites, you can see if certain programs will sync with your setup for an effortless experience.

Don't Procrastinate

Go ahead and get a chore done and get it off your mind. Pick just one thing, do it until it's completed, and break down larger tasks into smaller parts to make them manageable. Set a timer for 15 or 20 minutes and work non-stop without taking any breaks whatsoever.

Find a Place for Everything

Once you decide the best place for each item, it is easy to keep using that space. That will keep your home or office surprisingly neat and also make it quicker to find something. Use folders, boxes and storage containers; label everything so the contents are easy to find.

Drop Less Important Chores and Events

Nobody can do everything that comes up in home, work or social life. You need to weed through what is asked of you and learn to say "no" when you do not have the time to participate. Then you can use that time for important chores and the events that mean something special to you and your family. Don’t overwhelm yourself, and learn to delegate projects to others.

No Need To Be a Perfectionist

You will have to learn to acknowledge when a project is adequately finished and move on to your next item. It is more important to accomplish a number of tasks than to struggle with just one that seems to deny perfection.

Hopefully these ideas will give you specific ways to organize your life and will lead to happier days so that you can completely enjoy brief vacations away from your very busy schedule.
